CAPPS

The CAPSS-LCSA Student Recognition Program is the regional recognition program through the Connecticut Association of Public-School Superintendents (CAPSS) and has proven to be an annual highlight for students, parents, and Superintendents alike. The 2023-24 Watertown High School grade 12 recipients were honored during the 39th Annual CAPSS-LCSA Student Recognition Program Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at The Grand Oak Villa, in Oakville.

Luke Acuna

Luke Acuna is a senior at Watertown High School. He is the epitome of a positive role model. The most remarkable thing about Luke is his genuine kindness, he is kind to his core. He is an outstanding student who takes his education seriously. Luke is also an exceptional athlete acting as a leader on and off the field. For his senior capstone project, Luke raised money and donated sleeping bags to the unhoused population. Luke plans to study mechanical engineering.

Gianna Desena

Gianna Desena is a senior at Watertown High School. Throughout her high school, Gianna has been an active member and leader of Best Buddies and Unified Sports. If she isn’t in class, you can find her in the resource room helping students and being a great friend. Outside of schools, she volunteers her time as a Buddy with the Sun Moon and Stars Organization. In her future, she plans to become an Occupational Therapist and help people of all needs and abilities.
