We are writing to you with a few friendly reminders and updates regarding the start of our school year. We are filled with excitement and anticipation for the new journey that awaits our incoming ninth grade students tomorrow, Thursday 8/29/2024!
This is a significant milestone for both students and families, and we are thrilled to welcome your children to our high school community. We have an engaging and enriching year planned, filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and making lasting friendships.
Important Details:
First Day of School for Ninth Grade Students: Thursday, 8/29/2024
Buses will be running on a half day schedule; our orientation program will begin at 7:45 A.M. and end at 12:10 P.M.
Lunch will be served in the cafeteria and you will have time to get to know our lunch process. On the menu is a burger/chicken patty bar (includes sliced tomato, onion, lettuce, pickles, bacon, and assorted sauces), fries, and slushies. You are allowed to bring lunch from home if you prefer.
Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers because you will be touring the school and participating in small group activities.
SWIPE K-12
As students arrive, they will submit their presence through our Swipe K-12 Program.
When entering school building via the Main Entry (Door 1) or Parent Drop-off Loop (Door 2), students will record their presence by:
Entering their Student ID (PowerSchool Student Number) on a keypad
Scanning their student ID card
Students may use the ID card that was issued this past school year; new ID cards will be printed for students in Grades 9-11 following Fall School Photos.
Scanning their unique QR Code on the SwipeK12 Student App (Cell Phone App)
Please note that the cell phone app will only be used for arrival, and not throughout the school day.
Staff will be on duty ready to support students with this process, as well as provide PowerSchool Student Numbers as needed. As communicated, this Swipe K-12 procedure is new and evolving for our school. We will troubleshoot and support students as needed. We appreciate your patience and flexibility!
Please note that with tomorrow’s orientation schedule, students will only utilize Swipe upon arrival.
Sincerely,
WHS Administratio
