Dear Watertown Public Schools Faculty and Families,
What better way to start the weekend with painted Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies! As we move into April break, I wish you all a well deserved rest. Enjoy the warm weather with friends and family! Thank you to all of our WPS employees who engaged in several professional learning experiences this afternoon.
Staying Healthy During Travel
If you find yourself traveling over the break, Internationally or locally, we encourage everyone to follow the suggestions below:
- Continue to utilize as many mitigation strategies while traveling regardless of whether the policies and procedures in place at your destination mandate them.
- Before travel, review the current DPH and CDC recommendations for travel during COVID-19 and be sure to plan sufficient time for any necessary actions.
- Follow DPH and CDC best-practice for testing and quarantining if you begin symptoms or become Covid positive.
Spring Break Food Boxes
Families who have signed up and received confirmation for a spring break food box will be able to pick up in the back circle at Swift between 3-6PM today. I would like to thank Ms. Doering, Director of Food Services and the Watertown Cafeteria team for their commitment and dedication to the families of our school community.
Have a wonderful Easter and April break,
Dr. V

Good Friday and Easter
Tomorrow marks an important day for our Christian and Jewish families. Good Friday is a solemn day for Christians as it marks the end of Holy Week and moves into Easter and Passover celebrations. During this time, members of the Christian community remember the resurrection of Jesus and God’s many miracles. Easter is filled with hope for Christians around the world to spread kindness and joy to all. Lastly, Orthodox Easter falls on April 24, this year.
Passover
Passover is a Jewish holiday that kicks off with Seder, a family meal with special rituals. The special Seder meal includes foods that carry symbolic and historic meaning that recount the great Exodus where Israelites were led out of Egypt by Moses. During Passover, a main staple is ‘matzah’ or unleavened bread.
We wish all our Christian and Jewish families a happy Easter and Passover this weekend.
