Dear Watertown Public Schools Families and Faculty,
Now that we have officially kicked off the new year, we are in full swing preparing the FY26 Budget. The budget process begins in October each year and follows a thorough calendar of planning and preparation meetings where building and district administrators work with their faculty departments to build a zero based budget of needs for the next school year.
Presentations are given by key stakeholders at BOE meetings throughout the Fall and early Winter months to provide information about needs across the district. Then, in mid-late February, the Superintendent's Proposed Budget is presented to the Board of Education. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
With the long weekend approaching, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is on Monday. MLK Day honors the legacy and history of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s contributions to our nation as a pivotal leader in the American civil rights movement. As we acknowledge the impact of Dr. King’s work this Monday, It’s a great opportunity to contemplate his message of civil service, persistence in the face of adversity and the impact even one person can make in the world.

Lastly, it looks like we will get some snow this weekend. If there are any changes to scheduled athletic events, a message will be sent out to families and students. Have a wonderful long weekend, Watertown!
