FY 25 Budget Edition
February 16, 2024
Dear Watertown Public Schools Faculty, Families and Students,
Earlier this week, the BOE was presented with the ‘Superintendent’s Proposed FY 25 Budget’. The budget proposed a 3.98% increase from last year’s budget. Any and all information regarding the proposed budget can be found on our official district website at this link: https://sites.google.com/water...
A district budget is always created thoughtfully and collaboratively. How all stakeholders are impacted by a district budget is heavily taken into consideration when designing each year’s budget. This year’s budget is fiscally responsible and focuses on students and the overall health of the Watertown Public Schools as a large complex organization. Most importantly you will find the following prioritized in the budget:
Focus on student performance and achievement
Cultivating faculty/staff capacity in a fair and high quality school system
Alignment and fortification of innovate opportunities for students
Continued work towards building a sustainable and stable financial foundation in the long term
From October until May, administrators, teachers, board of education members, and town personnel engage in designing the budget through phases. We strictly adhere to a Zero Based Budgeting Process each year. Each phase highlights the needs and investments we want to make at our schools and in our district level departments. Presentations are given by our building and district administrators so the details and areas of focus are shared with the public. All of those presentations can be found on the main district website. I encourage our entire Watertown community to take a few moments and explore what the FY 25 budget is dedicated to.
