NEW FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR ANNOUNCED
It is with great excitement that we welcome Ms. Emily Doering to the Watertown Public Schools as the next Director of Food Service for the district. On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the Watertown Board of Education appointed Emily Doering in a special board meeting.
Ms. Emily Doering brings a positive attitude and energy to the role. The interview committees commented on Emily’s exciting ideas about healthy meals, nutrition, and her experience working with several districts across the State of CT.
She brings with her the knowledge and skills needed to provide ongoing support to our students and their families. Ms. Doering said she is Looking forward to getting started and making a positive impact in the food service department and with our families. Dr. Villanueva said, “Emily’s progressive ideas on promoting healthy eating habits while also providing nutritional education was very clear throughout her entire interview process. I am looking forward to Emily’s leadership in the district and to see her ideas begin to grow in our school programs and courses.
Ms. Doering is a Registered Dietitian who received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Framingham State University. She went on to complete her Master's degree and 1200-hour dietetic internship from Framingham State as well. Emily started her dietetic career in the clinical sector, providing nutrition oversite for hospitals and nursing homes. Following her true passion for connecting children to their food through nutrition education, Emily's career path has led her to the K-12 School realm of nutrition. In her most recent position, she was employed with Sodexo, a school food service management company, and provided nutrition support for menu planning and allergy management in several school districts across Connecticut.
The Board of Education is thrilled to have Ms. Doering join us on August 23, 2021, as the new Food Service Director for Watertown Public Schools.
