Watertown Public Schools Appoints New Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services
Watertown, CT - July 15, 2022 - After a lengthy and focused search for the right candidate, the Watertown Public Schools has found their next Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services.
“It is with great happiness to have Dr. Perri Murdica join the WPS team as our new Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services,” shared the Superintendent of Schools. The Watertown Public Schools has been focused on finding a candidate for this position with extensive experience in the world of Special Education; a strong background in building relationships with families; and leadership skills at a district level. Out of multiple rounds of interviews and screeners, Dr. Murdica stood out from the pack. And as fate would have it Dr. Murdica’s career started in Watertown, CT many years ago. In one of her interviews, she shared that her return as Director of Special Education was special because she had so many fond memories of the Watertown community.
Dr. Murdica comes to WPS from Canton Public Schools where she currently holds the position of Director of Pupil Personnel Services overseeing and leading the supervision, evaluation and coordination of the special education department and related services. She was also the Director of Pupil Services for the Southington Public Schools and prior to that an Education Consultant for the Bureau of Special Education with the Connecticut State Department of Education. She has served in many roles, from paraeducator, to teacher, to administrator over her many years of experience and brings with her multiple perspectives that will help her succeed in this role. She also has expertise in dyslexia and a keen interest in reading instruction.
Dr. Murdica's first day on the job will be August 29, 2022.
